Caran Properties has a talented group of professionals dedicated to providing quality property management services. We view management as a vehicle to increasing the value of the asset. To accomplish this, we created some of the industry’s finest operating systems and developed sophisticated financial procedures that allow us to look at a property from an investor’s viewpoint.

We are a hands-on company that pays close attention to details and personal service. Interpersonal skills are considered when hiring and we train our staff not only about the finer technical points of buildings and management, but also on dealing effectively with people.

Others agree with us. Caran Properties has been recognized for its excellence by some of New York’s leading real estate organizations and publications. The Associated Builders and Owners of Greater New York (ABO) chose Caran as “Management Company of the Year” in 2000. Sherry Frankel, our president, was honored in 2003 by the industry and Association of Real Estate Women (AREW) for “Outstanding Achievement in Real Estate” and her leadership in property management. Previously, Sherry was selected by AREW as one of the Women Real Estate Leaders for the 21st Century. Twice, she was the recipient of the Emma Lazarus Award, presented by ABO for her contributions to the real estate industry and the New York business environment. 

Martha McDonald-Goupit, a principal and managing director at Caran, has won The Cooperator’s prestigious Leadership in Management Award and a Management Achievement Award from Habitat Magazine.

History
Our culture of excellence derives, in part, from our founding. Caran was created in 1988 by Sherry Frankel to be the selling agent for properties acquired by AFA Services, Inc., a real estate investment company. In 1993, Caran expanded its services and began to manage all of AFA’s properties in the New York area. We also expanded to include management of non-AFA properties, offering the same sophisticated approach and understanding of the importance of protecting and increasing the value of an asset.
